Newcastle Specials Pharmacy Production & Quality Control Unit

Newcastle Specials is a Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) approved NHS Pharmacy Production and Quality Control Unit and is part of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospitals in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom.

Newcastle Specials operates under a number of regulatory licenses including: a Specials (Unlicensed Medicines), Investigational Medicinal Products (IMP) and Wholesale Dealer’s licences. As part of our commitment to quality standards we also have an on-site Quality Control Laboratory.

Newcastle Specials has NHS lead-unit status in the North East of England and boasts a purpose-built facility with five specialist production zones and a dedicated medicine over-labelling suite.

As part of its commitment to quality standards, Newcastle Specials has its own well-equipped onsite Quality Control laboratory. Newcastle Specials provides a responsive and committed service to its customers, working together to develop the product range and meet user requirements. This includes development of highly specialist medicines and high risk patient ready IVs to meet National Patient Safety Agency initiatives.

We continually review our product range to ensure manufacture of high quality medicines which meet specialist requirements and provide value for money for our Trust and external customers.
